San Francisco-based ActionScript Developer position with Zinio Systems

You can join Zinio Systems, a digital publisher in San Francisco, on a six-month contract with a highly competitive rate, or as a full time salaried employee. You'll be using ActionScript/Flash at the application layer to make [their] website act more like a desktop application than a conventional website. You'll get your hands dirty investigating advanced technologies such as Flex data services and Adobe Apollo to help []them] expand the use of rich media in digital publishing. With the Internet becoming today's magazine rack, your ActionScript skills will drive key Zinio business objectives and impact millions online.

[They]'re looking for smart people to work in a collaborative, Agile development environment where you'll advance your understanding of object-oriented programming design or encryption algorithms within ActionScript, and create sophisticated transition effects.

You'll join an 8-person engineering and QA team and, with another Flash developer, help architect a solid ActionScript infrastructure for consumers to read mainstream magazines on the Web. What makes this scenario especially interesting is our use of Agile development methods (specifically Scrum). Instead of a top down management style you'll participate in a self organizing team that's given a broad problem statement and moves collaboratively to solve it.

You're a solid candidate if you have:

* Used ActionScript with asynchronous XML and back end logic
* Worked with server side programmers
* Understand object-oriented design within Action Script
* At least considered encryption algorithms implemented in ActionScript
* Created sophisticated transition effects
* Hands-on experience on client-server applications
* Thorough experience with dynamic, interactive content in Flash 7 or later versions

* Digital rights management issues (DRM)
* BitmapData class in Flash 8
* Flash 9 Beta and ActionScript 3
